Soils Walk and Talk Field Trip

June 11, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join NRCS District Conservationist Jim Johnson to unlock the secrets in the soil. Learn about local soil quality of your area based on soil surveys, testing and makeup. Understand how to use these tools and information so you can learn more about your soil’s fertility and how well it will support different types of vegetation. We will take a short walk through different types of vegetation and learn how to take a soil sample to have your own soil tested. We will also watch a rainfall simulator demonstrate why soil health is critical to reducing erosion and improving water quality. Rain date will be Saturday, June 18th.

This presentation is part of the Soil Talk Series, presented by LAWPC and AVSWCD. This series aims to show how soil and water quality are deeply connected, and different ways individuals can take an active role protecting both.
