Auburn Water District has the legislative authority to create bylaws for the protection of Lake Auburn as an unfiltered surface drinking water supply. Bylaws were adopted in January 1992 and detail four watershed control zones based on hydrology, flow, and time of travel to the raw water intake at the L/A Treatment Plant. This map shows the watershed control zones, where the Level 1 Control Zone is the most important area to protect, including Lake Auburn’s Restricted Zone and no-trespassing areas.
